In a time when artificial intelligence is encroaching deeply into the art of songwriting, David Roy’s “Already in Progress” is a thoroughly human endeavor. David takes satisfaction in the process of creation from start to finish, fleshing out parts and arrangements that enrich the songs. Recorded at Philly’s own Turtle Studios with talented musicians who have spent decades honing their musical skills, and masterfully produced by Ross Bellenoit.

The album was largely written during the 2020 Covid pandemic shutdown. A time of great fear and reflection. It was also a creative time for many artists and songwriters including David. The world was shut down, regular routines were altered. This gift of time was put to use for a purpose other than the mundane workaday.

“Already in Progress” is David’s sophomore solo effort. The title reflects the return to the post pandemic world and as a throwback to the television days of the 70’s when after a breaking news event, the program would return, “already in progress…” The album is reflective and hints at the singer-songwriter and band vibe from the 60’s and 70’s, but with a modern approach.
